Top Yacht Charter Locations in Croatia

We don’t pull highlights from travel blogs—we get them from captains, crew, and personal experience on the water. These are places where a yacht charter makes a true difference: stunning anchorages in national parks, historic ports best approached by sea, and remote islands that are inaccessible without a boat.
Split is one of the main coastal cities in Croatia and a major sailing hub on the Adriatic. Known for the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, its historic center blends ancient Roman architecture with lively streets, cafés, and waterfront promenades. Located in central Dalmatia, Split serves as a key starting point for yacht routes toward islands such as Hvar, Brač, and Vis, offering excellent marinas, transport connections, and vibrant nightlife.

Hvar is one of Croatia’s most famous islands, known for its lively harbor and stunning historic setting. The town rises steeply from the waterfront, with stone streets leading up to a 16th-century fortress overlooking the Adriatic. Popular with sailors and visitors alike, Hvar is a favorite stop on yacht itineraries, where the harbor often fills with boats and the waterfront comes alive with restaurants, bars, and vibrant nightlife.

Vis

Vis is one of the most unique islands in Croatia and a highlight of many Dalmatian yacht charters. Located farther from the mainland than most islands, it has preserved an authentic and relaxed atmosphere. Once closed to foreign visitors because it served as a Yugoslav military base, Vis avoided large-scale tourism development. Today it is valued for its natural beauty, traditional villages, and the famous Blue Cave on nearby Biševo Island.

Korčula is one of the most beautiful and historic islands in Croatia, often called “mini-Dubrovnik” because of its medieval walled old town. Believed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, it features narrow stone streets, historic fortifications, and a unique Adriatic atmosphere. Located roughly halfway between Split and Dubrovnik, it is a convenient and popular stop on many yacht itineraries, offering good marina facilities and plenty to explore.

Dubrovnik is the most iconic city on the Adriatic, famous for its impressive medieval walls and terracotta rooftops.
